About Us
What is Jackson-Madison County Habitat for Humanity?
Founded in 1986, Habitat for Humanity, Jackson, TN, Inc., d/b/a Jackson Madison County Habitat for Humanity, is a non-profit, holistic housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations, Habitat builds homes with Partner families and Covenant Partners (sponsors). Houses are sold at no profit to Partner families, and no-interest mortgages are issued for a fixed period. Small mortgage payments, including taxes and insurance, are repaid over 25 to 30 years. The principle is deposited into a revolving "Fund for Humanity" which supports the construction of more houses. Read more in our Fact Sheet.
